Established
in Catania in 1985 and based in the heart of the city, the GIUSEPPE
MAIMONE publishing house today boasts a catalogue of more than 200
volumes and has a clearly recognisable external image of its products
defined on the basis of a well thought out graphic project.
The publishing house’s main interest is towards Sicilian reality
in all its multiple aspects, within a broader European context.
Alongside the two volumes of the “Grandi Siciliani”,
are the volumes of the series “Archi di volta” and “Pietre
d'angolo”, all works with valuable original illustrations
accompanying texts by the best European experts.
In the essay collections (“Universitates saggi”, “Viridaria”)
new research in the historical and anthropological fields are instead
gathered.
Other series comprise works on the rich Sicilian chapter of Italian
literature from the last two centuries, on the history of cinema
and music, on urban planning/architecture and art (Phronesis).
In addition, the catalogue presents important titles of European
culture from the XVII and XVIII centuries.
Maimone Editore also plans exhibitions, produces
videos and is responsible for the organisation of cultural events.
